Sourcing (Where to find reeds locally)
Farms and Agricultural Areas are a primary source; Straw is a byproduct of grain farming, and local farmers often have surplus straw after harvesting cereal crops.

Atelier Kaiser Shen - Straw Bale House
Uses straw as insulation to improve thermal performance of building. Made from natural and renewable raw materials. Based on the idea of using bales of straw combined with clay plaster as a thermal envelope for floors, ceiling, roof and walls. Uses solar panels and heat pumps for energy. The regenerative energy sources combined with the straw bale insulation mean the house meets the Efficiency House Plus Standard.
